It’s hard to believe we’ve been in business for 10 years! It seems like just yesterday we were printing up our first business cards and setting up shop at the Kanata Leisure Centre. The first three years of business certainly went by quickly before expanding to our 2 room clinic in the heart of Beaverbrook. It was there that the business steadily grew and flourished over the next four years. The decision to expand yet again to our current location did not come without its hurdles to overcome. After a lot of hard work and a some scrambling we managed to open our doors only 3 days late but without running water or a working phone for the first day! Thank goodness the clinic runs a little more smoothly now, especially with our hugely successful online booking system and 10 of the best therapists to share the workload.
To commemorate this milestone we are celebrating with an open house on Friday October 21st at the clinic from 4:30-8pm. We will be auctioning off a Sens Heritage Jersey autographed by Daniel Alfredsson with 2 tickets to a game AND a beautiful orchid painting by the talented artist, Marsha Masseau. Please find our page on Facebook to place a bid. Deadline is Friday October 21st at 9pm. On Facebook, search for “Absolute Massage Therapy” to find our page with details on the silent auction. All proceeds are going to the Camp Ohana Foundation.
A great big thank you to those who have made donations:

Unfortunately, the new HST will be coming into effect July 1st, 2010. This means that instead of just charging the 5% GST on our services our fees will be subject to the much higher 13%. Our association (OMTA) has been lobbying the government to make massage therapists exempt from having to charge tax on their services but to no avail. The government will force us to charge 13% HST on our services effective July 1st, 2010.

After filling out a brief health history form an assessment will be conducted and an individual treatment plan will be discussed before starting the massage portion of the session. Please feel free to ask any questions at any time during your session. It is very important that you feel comfortable, relaxed and safe during your session. Massage therapy is most effective when performed directly onto the skin, however, you may leave as much clothing on as you wish. You will be completely draped with a sheet and blanket for the duration your session with only the area being worked on being exposed. Privacy is given to dress and undress before and after your session. You may stop or alter the treatment at any time throughout the session, for any reason.
