Who we treat
Here are just a few examples of who can benefit from massage therapy. If you are wondering whether or not massage therapy can help you, give us a call and one of our registered massage therapists will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Pregnancy Massage:
Postural, hormonal and rapid weight changes can be very taxing on an expecting mother’s body. Whether you suffer from back, leg or foot pain, have swollen extremities, or maybe you’re just plain tired, massage therapy can help alleviate some of the discomforts associated with pregnancy. Some people feel that because they can only lay down in certain positions that massage is impossible until after the baby is born. This is not true. Special pillowing and side-lying position allows the therapist to access the areas you wish to be treated while maintain an optimum level of comfort. Never had massage before? Don’t let the fact that you’re pregnant stop you from giving it a try. Our therapists are fully trained to treat you while you are pregnant.
Sports Massage:
The main goal of sports massage is to help prevent injury, maximize results and to promote recovery. Whether you’re training for a marathon or play street hockey with the kids, injuries can happen. Tendinitis, muscle strains, patellofemoral syndrome, plantar fasciitis, iliotibial band syndrome, ligament sprains are all painful injures which can get in the way of achieving your goals. Your massage therapist can provide you with a treatment plan with massage, remedial exercise and hydrotherapy to get you on the road to recovery and set you up for success!
Relaxation Massage:
Don’t wait for an injury to happen before you try massage therapy! Studies have shown that massage therapy can promote the release of endorphins, which are “feel good” hormones. These hormones can also lower blood pressure and act as natural pain killers.
Computer-related physical stress:
Spend too much time in front of the computer? Our bodies are designed to be in motion so sitting for long periods of time can cause many conditions like low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, neck, back and hip pain. Often this is due to shortening of certain muscle groups and lack of use. Try massage therapy to help manage or alleviate some of your aches and pains related to your desk job.
